Annual Art ShowThe visual arts have played an important role in the worship and ministry of First Congregational Church. Art makes worship more meaningful and helps us connect with and express our deepest feelings. Sometimes, through visual arts, we understand something that could never be put into words. The arts we use in worship, visual, music, and dance, help us connect to God the creator and the mystery which is inherent in the Holy.The display of visual arts has been part of the church's history. However, the inclusion of a beautiful, sunlit courtyard during the building restoration led to two regular exhibits and several one time shows. Our Art Show is held every other year. For this show, church members and friends are encouraged to enter their original art work. We are amazed at the talent and creativity displayed and have come to appreciate each other and our gifts more deeply. On alternate years, regional artists are invited to enter the art of their inner selves in a juried art show with a spiritual theme called Honoring the Living Spirit. It has attracted some fine artists and we are proud to offer this exhibit to the community. In addition to our Banner Collection, we also have several pieces in our permanent collection here at First Congregational Church. __________________________________________________
