Faith FestivalFaith Festival is fun and fellowship for everyone! Once a month, we gather in the courtyard from 5:30-6:15, for a simple meal, spending time with our First Congregational faith community. Then, after the meal, a special program follows which connects us to our faith and to one another. Everyone's favorite Faith Festival happens in the days before Advent begins when we decorate every nook and cranny of the church for Christmas. At every other Faith Festival, we do Reel Theology where we watch a film and discuss it. It really is real theology! Reel Theology is an opportunity to watch and reflect on a film that pertains to the current Liturgical season, or a significant theme of our life as the body of Christ active in the world. There have been serious educational and light-hearted comedic films presented as a way to enhance our spirituality and fellowship with other members and friends of the church. There is time to ponder questions after viewing, and lively discussion inevitably follows. Some films are appropriate for the whole family and include activities for children, while others have themes geared for adults. On those evenings, we also have a separate film for children. We have a Cinema here at FCC where we watch movies, complete with stadium seating and a popcorn machine! The Faith Festival schedule for 2006-07 is: October 4 - "Heroes Unmasked" Fun for all ages! Young people will meet some of the awesome heroes of the Bible while adults will discuss our fascination with super heroes and what kind of hero our faith calls us to become. Come dressed as your favorite super hero! November 1 - Reel Theology November 29 - Hanging of the Greens After a feast of hearty, delicious hors d'oeuvres we will decorate the church for the holiday season. Many hands make light work of this fun and festive project. Come one, come all to deck the halls! January 10 - Reel Theology February 7 - Animal Crackers - Go Crackers for Heifer! People of all ages will be challenged by Animal Crackers, an exciting educational and program exploring Hunger and the Bible, Animals, People and their Needs, Land and the Environment, and Passing on the Gift.
