FCC HAS JOINED MICHIGAN INTERFAITH POWER & LIGHT (MIIPL)

Through the Green Team (Mustard Seed Project), we have become an affiliate of Michigan Interfaith Power & Light (MiIPL), a coalition of over 100 congregations across the State of Michigan whose mission is to involve communities of faith as stewards of God's creation by promoting and implementing energy conservation, energy efficiency, renewable energy and related sustainable practices. More will be forthcoming on the advantages of our affiliation with MiIPL, but a few of these are:
. Energy assessment of our building
. Savings of up to 50% on ENERGY STAR lighting available for congregants
. Discount on ENERGY STAR appliances for member congregants at ABC Warehouse
. Energy education and worship resources for congregations

If you would like to learn more about MiIPL, you can view their web site at www.miipl.org.

The Green Team will continue to make Compact Flourescent Lights (CFLs) available.  If you haven't yet purchased your industrial quality bulbs or want more, please stop by our table during fellowship after Sunday services or click on the order form below.  Within a few years, only CFL's will be sold in Michigan and throughout the country.  It is a good idea to get a head start and begin saving money on your electric bill now while also reducing your carbon footprint.

Many of you have purchased compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) through the Green Team's Mustard Seed Project and we hope you are pleased with the way they work.  Over its lifetime, a CFL bulb prevents 2,000 lbs of CO2 from heating the atmosphere compared to a regular bulb.

The Green Team is exploring other eco-friendly products to reduce greenhouse gas emissions that we might make available to the congregation.  We are hoping to make First Congregational Church and its members aware of climate change issues.   In the Bible, we are asked to be good stewards of the earth - let's all do our part.  If you would like to join the Green Team, please contact a Green Team member  (Chris Kosmowski, Stacey or Matt Russell, Thelma Edwards, Karen Parker, Melinda Khan).
