J OINT-RELIGIOUS O RGANIZING N ETWORK FOR A CTION AND H OPE We at First Congregation Church of Battle Creek are a proud sponsor and founding member of JONAH, along with other area congregations, concerned with issues of suffering and injustice in our community. The founding churches understand and accept that we are all bound together through our mutual respect and belief in God's power and grace, to effect change in our community. In cooperation with I.S.A.A.C. in Kalamazoo, MI*Voice on state-wide issues and with the Gamaliel Foundation at the national level, it is the vision of JONAH that our actions will bring about positive change through the political and economic systems in our life. Through the JONAH listening campaign in the spring of 2006, members of First Congregational Church had an opportunity to express their concerns and hopes for a better Battle Creek community. Three task forces were formed from the information received from all the churches participating in the listening campaign: Youth and Family, Structural Racism, and Economy Task Force. Members from First Congregational Church are involved in these task forces. info@jonahbc.org MI*Voice -A statewide federation, stlads@flash.net ISAAC in Kalamazoo - kalisaac@sbcgobal.net Gamaliel Foundation - www.gamaliel.org |
