KICS, Kids in Christ's ServiceKICS, Kids in Christ's Service, is a service-centered children's group for students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. The KICS' mission is to introduce young people to a life of Christian service: to serve our church and community through a variety of activities and projects. The leaders hope to foster the notion that the "priesthood of all believers" includes children.Past KICS projects have included collecting socks, hats and mittens for The Charitable Union in Battle Creek, which they delivered them in person and then received a guided tour of the facility. Another project was making pretzels to give to the congregation after worship to remind them to pray during Lent. The form of a pretzel mirrors an ancient stance for prayer. KICS also collected items from the congregation to put together thirty two Heart to Heart Kids Kits for Church World Service. |
