On October 18, 2009, the congregation approved the Open and Affirming Statement proposed by the Social Equality and Justice Mission Team.

Four churches participated in the first ever cook-off and Tom & Emily Joye came in second with their Turkish Coffee Barbecue! Mel described it as sweet and smokey!
