Worship Location & Time Update
Beginning on Sunday, June 7th, 2026 at 9:30AM,
the people of First Congregational Church will begin worshipping at
2055 East Columbia Avenue, Battle Creek, MI 49014,
which is the facility of Trinity Lutheran Church.
This change in our worshipping location is a cost-saving measure as we transition out of our historic facility. We look forward to sharing space with our friends at Trinity for the next season!
You can read more about this transition here, including answers to frequently asked questions.
We anticipate the successful sale of our property at 145 Capital Ave NE in the near future. A Farewell to 145 Capital worship service will be announced at a later date. Please continue to keep our community in your prayers as we navigate this passage.

Wondering what to expect on Sunday morning?
FCCBC is a busy place. Monday-Saturday of each week, community, civic, art and advocacy groups fill our space with music, laughter and activity.
Sunday morning is the primary time for gathering of our faith community in worship and ritual. Members are able to connect with one another and with God during this time of fellowship. The sermon, testimonies or a conversational dialogue are the main focus of worship time.
A piano or guitar and small choir accompany music. Rev. Nate or Rev. EJ may preach, there may be testimonies or a lay leader may preach. Liturgy (prayers, words of affirmation, etc.) is led by a member of the congregation. Communion is open to everyone and is observed the first Sunday of each month.
You’ll meet people who have been a part of the FCCBC faith community for 30 years and people who are visiting. Some folks prefer to wear jeans and a t-shirt while others are most comfortable in a suit and tie. You’ll meet LGBTQ+ folks who are integral parts of our faith community. Following worship, there is a time of fellowship with snacks and coffee in the Courtyard.
“Wherever you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.”
In need of pastoral care? Use this form to contact Rev. Nate & Rev. EJ and set up a time to receive spiritual guidance. This form should not be used for the purposes of requesting financial help. Requests for financial assistance are handled through our Church Office, not through pastoral staff.
Building Use During Transition
Due to the anticipated sale of our facility at 145 Capital Ave NE, we are not currently accepting new tenants or outside community rentals for celebrations, memorials or weddings.
Current building users have been asked to find an alternate location for their programming.
Weekday Hours (Mon–Fri, 9 AM–3 PM) – Events and meetings that align with FCC’s mission during these hours that do not require special setup are generally permitted.
Evenings and Weekends – Use is limited to congregational events only.
Responsibilities of Users
Tenants, community partners, and church members will have increased responsibilities to support our limited staff capacity. Setup, clean up, and building security will be the primary responsibility of event host.
Our Commitment
For as long as we remain the primary stewards of our facility, we want our building to remain a place of welcome, while ensuring it can continue to serve our congregation and community for years to come. Thank you for helping us care for this shared space.
